Facts about Vitamins

"The art of medicine consists in entertaining the patient while the nature cures the illness" - Voltaire

I started to write about vitamins since last August? I tried to feature one vitamin. I am thinking today I'm sharing with you guys that vitamin but I never explained what the facts of vitamin are. Other people are not interested to take those vitamins and just rely on the food that they eat. I already shared about Vitamin C, A, E and P.

What are vitamins?

Vitamins are important substances for life and regulate our metabolism. They mediate the production and control of energy, as well as cell growth and development of all body tissues. It is more effective together with the minerals.

Are you familiar with RDA?

RDA means “recommended daily allowance”. In the U.S., the RDA is a suggested intake of nutrient for a healthy person. This amount can change if the person is experiencing a certain illness or practicing a bad habit such as smoking a cigarette.

For example, the RDA for Vitamin C is 60mg/day. But if you are a smoker it is recommended to take 25 mg. more cigarettes smoked. If 20 cigarettes are smoked daily, you need 500mg of Vitamin C daily. It really depends on what you need.

Which are better, natural or synthetic vitamins?

According to Dr. Earl Mindel in his book “All About Vitamins”, natural vitamins are less toxic and are better tolerated by the body when the correct dosage is exceeded. But most specialist in this area comment that although both of this kind are identical and give positive results, the natural vitamins are more readily absorbed by our body.

When is the proper time to take our vitamins?

The best time to take our vitamins is together with our meals and minerals. In this way it is readily absorbed and works better. But the best time in taking our fat soluble vitamins (like vitamins A, E, D, K) are before meals. Water based vitamins, like B complex, Vitamin C, F, P, etc. are better taken during or after meals.

I conducted a great deal research on nutrition back in college. I followed some teachings by a MD/Vet. He worked on the popular tv show Mutual of Omahas Wild Kingdom. He taught based on the theory that mineral deficiencies are the main cause of illness and disease with humans and animals alike. He spoke of how back in the 70s, the medical field changed its focus of teaching. The medical schools began teaching treatment of symptoms versus treatment of the problem. This was a result of the pharmaceutical companies buy out of the medical industry so they could reap more profits. If animals develop a health problem, the body is treated as a whole (usually with mineral supplements) and the problem is eliminated. Symptoms are treated more often in humans (drugs are prescribed to alleviate pain and other symptoms). This keeps people ill and allows the pharm companies to sustain a longer windfall of profit. What do you think of this theory?

Hi Joops,

I'll answer this in full in posting about minerals. I am thinking about it.

For now, all I can say is that...

*mineral deficiencies are the main cause of illness and disease with humans and animals alike

probably because we can't produce minerals in our body unlike vitamins. Some vitamins are absorb together with the proper combination of minerals.

*This keeps people ill and allows the pharm companies to sustain a longer windfall of profit

usually they hide the truth of curing the illnesses. trying to advertise that it is better to alleviate the pain rather than discovering why it was aching.

example now a days when man has a flu or cough (this not an ill this is a body mechanism indicating that there are foreign bodies inside the human body) they try to drink a medicine to stop it. without even knowing that their body are trying to eliminate some virus or bacteria.
