5 frames for Moments hosted by Gladys Reyes-Sommereux

Moments is one of the shows of Net 25 in the Philippines. New episodes can be watch during 6:30 pm every Saturday. This is hosted by Gladys Reyes-Sommereux. The first time I saw it I thought its a lousy show. As the week pass by, I noticed myself I was already hooked up on this show. Every time the show ends up Gladys speak her theme on her ending spiel "living, loving & all about bonding... moments"

Just to reiterate the theme. Is it all about bonding? Yes it is, the show emphasizes what kind of living does her guest have. Take note they are not just inviting a prominent people to impress the viewers. They are inviting ordinary people to share their story on the show. Not far to Oprah... Hmmm

How about living & bonding? thinking these two words for me its inter-connected to each other. The show teach the viewers the ways on how the family members bond to each other . For me they are very consistent on their theme every time I watched them.

I wrote this, to let them know that I appreciate their show. I'm giving them 5 frames. I hope they will not stop to find people who would like to share how they live their good life. To be able to impart their knowledge to the viewers.

I would like to congratulate Gladys for having a great show, a new baby girl and a new age of her life.

Journey to Tagaytay in Text View

You may watch the slide for this:

Journey to Tagaytay

Tagaytay is a nearby and get away city from Manila. To inhale a fresh air and escape the polluted air of Manila. This city is the best option. A 55 km drive and just takes you 1 1/2 hour by taking a car.

I have been there a lot times. When my students like to go on a tour on a weekend, June and I have thought of Tagaytay. I didn't expect that I'm going to appreciate more this city.

We went first to People's Park in the Sky. June told us that it is a formerly rest house of the family Marcos. I wonder how beautiful it is during 70's. Standing and staring the 90 degrees view of Tagaytay. It's a wonderful and fantastic. I have a resilient spirit when I was there. Even my students told us that it looks like Jeju Island.

Aside from the city of Tagaytay, you will also see the smallest volcano in the world "The Taal Volcano"

My students decided to go on the actual site of the volcano. As we go there, it's not so easy. June had a hard time in driving because the mountain is so steep. The brake pads are almost burn so we were forced to stop.
From People's Park, I think it took us a 30-minute drive going to the resort.

The resort is located at Talisay, Batangas. We need to ride a boat and cross Taal Lake. The boatman said that the lake is about 600 meter deep.

Arriving to another resort takes us 20-minute. You have two options in going up to the crater. Its either you walk or ride a horse. I would like to remind you that the mountain is also steep and rocky. It's approximately 5 km long. If you're going to ride a horse it takes 30-minute going up. But if you're going to walk, you need to wear mountain climbing shoes.

The view of the crater fades out all our stress. It's definitely and guaranteed awesome. Try to visit there to see the beautiful scenery.

Again I would like to acknowledged Richard, Terry & Bond most especially my friend June for allowing this tour possible. We miss you gentlemen... I hope I may feature Jeju Island in due time.

Reynold Blaxland

This letter was dated last April 9, 2008
Dear Teacher,
Hope you are doing great today today?i am Engr Blaxland Reynold, from Australia married to Mary who is from France .Due to the nature of my job, my two kid’s Rigney and Jane( who are 3 and 6yrs respectively)have been staying with the mother in France which is a French speaking country. I am presently in Nigeria on a contract with a multinational oil and Gas Company and I came in with my wife and kids. This country being an English speaking country, I hereby need a qualified English teacher. I will be offering to pay US$6,500 monthly together with some allowances on health and vacation. If you are interested, mail me back with your resume. Photo and cover letter. You can also call me through my personal mobile >>>>>

Cheers
Engr Reynold

This is the name that is commonly used by the Nigerian Scammers. This is also the man that I'm referring in Post your Details

If your not used to scammers sometimes you will believe in what they say. Even if you need a job, still try to investigate for your own sake.

After exchanging e-mails, at the back of my head I wanted to know if this is true. Out of curiosity, I tried to search at that time "travel_globe_ng@yahoo.com". Take note this the Nigerian immigrations. There is only write up about it from teflwatchorg. It is stating that it is a scam. I told my friend about it and she was really shocked.

One Sunday afternoon, I think last June 29, after we attend the mass. We're supposed to visit the mother of our friend because she's sick. That time I decided to stay and watch television. I usually round up channels checking the best show of the hour. There was a countdown of the scam top 10 lists featured by "ang pinaka" of Q tv 11.
Take note the number 1 on the list is "NIGERIAN SCAM". This is been around since 1920. They just evolve their style from time to time. I will not wonder if they will use my name and my friends name because we were able to send our resume to them. I e-mailed it to Engr. Reynold Blaxland. Tsk... tsk... tsk... I couldn't get it back. What can I do right now is to inform you by writing this.

I'm supposed to include the picture of the family they are using. I realize that I'm going to compromise the faces of the children. I'm still giving the benefit of the doubt that the person behind it is not Engr. Reynold Blaxland. Maybe someone in Nigeria is using the identity just to earn money.

This is my message to everyone... The name will change, their faces will change and, the country may change. Do not bite their offer. Anything is possible on the internet. Be responsible e-mailer, surfer and, blogger.

The Manila Ocean Park

One of the most visited park in the Philippines today is the newly open, The Manila Ocean Park. It is located at the Rizal Park, behind Quirino Grandstand, Manila, Philippines.

This is the first and biggest aquarium facility in the country. When you visit this place you will see the variety of marine species. The underwater tunnel approximately 25-meter long, surrounded by wonderful creatures from freshwater and saltwater.

The entrance fee for adults is 400 pesos and 350 pesos for children. If you are a bonafide resident of Manila you can get a 10% discount. Just bring a valid ID indicating your address. Eventually, we wasn't able to have a discount its all because I don't have an ID. This park are open from 10am-9pm, Mondays thru Sundays.

Before we explore the Oceanarium. I would like to tell you the rules of the park. This is based on their pamphlet;

>Proper Attire - slippers and sleeveless undershirts are not not allowed inside the park.
>Food and Beverages - Food, beverages, candies and chewing gum are not allowed inside the park.
>Smoking is not allowed inside the park.
>Photography - Flash photography is not allowed as this scares the marine animals.

I would like to thank my students: Richard, Terry and Bond who made this tour possible. The featured pictures comes from Richard, Henry, June and mine. I made a slide for this tour. I hope my students like it same with Kaye and June. Just click this link Welcome to Manila Ocean Park.

As you enter the facility of Manila Ocean Park. Your journey begins in Agos (Flow) where the most of the freshwater creatures are featured. Like giant Arapaima the
largest freshwater fish that can only be found in Amazon River. Various types of african cichlids can also be found here. You can also found they're so called Touch Pool where you can interact with some friendly residents such as the starfish and sea cucumber.

Next to Agos is Bahura (Reef).
Basically you can see here the most fascinating craetures in the Philippines coral reefs. You can also see the clownfish hanging out with animone. It is also featured here the largest living arthropod, the Japanese spider crab.

After roaming around Bahura next is Laot (Fishing Ground). One of the famous fish here is Lapu-lapu or the Giant Grouper.
It can weigh up to 660 lb which makes them the largest bony fish.

Let's go to Buhay na Karagatan (The Living Ocean). We saw various marine animals and how they interact with each other. Like the stingray, travellies and etc. It looks fantastic and brilliant. The park were able to magnify the life under the ocean to its viewers.

After that is Ang Kalaliman (The Deep) it emphasizes the different kinds of schooling fish like the barracuda.
Like most people, they like to go on a group, gang, fraternity, association, corporation and etc. If you're belong in a group, as a member you feel secure and safe. Same with the fishes they also feel safer in groups. What about you, are you a loner or you need to belong to a group?

Next is the Overhang Tank where you can see a unique top and bottom view of stingrays.
Its really wonderful to look at!

After the Overhang Tank is Pating (Sharks)...

After exploring the ground floor. Let's proceed to the 2nd floor or the activity area. It provides a choice and fun activities for all to enjoy.

Like Fish Spa...
this is famous in Turkey. Now you can experience this in the Philippines by visiting this park. It cost 120 pesos per person.

Shark viewing area...
within your reach.

Activity area for children are also provided by the park. There is a glass bottom boat. Leading to the exit you were able to pass by a restaurant and souvenir shop.

I hope you enjoy this article. It made your awareness, to be concern to the marine species. I hope we can do something about the global warming. It really affects our marine species. As the water temperature increases so as the carbon dioxide which causes the death of the marine life. In little things I know we can help to control the global warming.

Vitamin C for Smokers & Inhalers

Don't worry smokers I will not advise you to stop smoking. In my opinion we are all smokers because we inhale air. As long as there are smoke from cigarette and smog in our surrounding. Non-smokers inhaling a polluted air then there is no difference to smokers. That is why I called it as Inhalers.

That is the reason why we are prone to respiratory diseases. All we need to do is to strengthen our immune system. Support our white blood cells which defend the body against all types of hostile elements like bacteria and virus.

How are we going to strengthen our immune system?

One way to strengthen our immune system is by taking the recommended dose of Vit. C. Which is 60 mg the least and the maximum is 180 mg. This vitamin can't be produced by the body. For this reason it is necessary to take it daily. Through food supplement, food and beverage that contain it. Try to look the Vit. C that is binded to oat bran because its healing properties are increased.Taking Vit. C with oat bran into the body increases the absorption rate. It means it will not goes to the kidney.

To all the smokers each stick of cigarette can destroy 25 mg of Vit C. Much more to the inhalers that sit beside the smokers. It means that every time you sit beside a smoker you are able smoke twice than the smoker. Which on your part the smoke of cigarette that you inhale destroy 50 mg of Vitamin C.

Now let's do math... If you are taking 10 sticks a day. It means it destroys 250 mg of Vit. C in your body. For a non-smoker or inhaler the least that you can take is 60 mg and the maximum is 180 mg per day. While for the smoker it depends on how many sticks are consumed each day.

For food supplement, Vit. C is great if it is binded to oat brans. How about in food and beverages? I'll give you some food that contain Vit. C:

1. Citrus fruits
2. Cantaloupe
3. Green Peppers
4. Steamed Brocolli
5. Raw Papaya
6. Strawberries

This is just one function of Vitamin C. To elaborate all the benefits in our body. I wrote the 10 Reasons Why to take Vitamin C? Watch out for that article. You will appreciate Vitamin C and how it help our body.

Lucky to the non-smoker who live in the provinces. They have a high tendency to be healthy. Once again love your body because nobody loves it except YOU!

Koch Infection

Have you heard about this disease? Its another way of saying of (TB) tuberculosis. This was named after the German bacteriologist who discover the bacteria. His name is Robert Koch.

If you are experiencing cold, coughing, spitting phlegm and blood, chronic fatigue, weight loss, fever, chest pain, unable to breath. This means that your tuberculosis is worse.

There are some people that is not suffering the symptoms above. That is what you called latent tuberculosis. The bacteria is not yet active. It means that you have a strong immune system and able to control the spread of bacteria. The moment that your immune system lowers down, little by little you will experience those symptoms.

There are several test to determine a latent tuberculosis:

1. Through chest x-ray
2. AFB test or sputum test (usually the result is negative)
3. skin test

Finding out that you have a latent tuberculosis it means you are very lucky. Now a days, it is easy to treat this kind of disease. Please do not ignore and do something to cure your body.

Why this disease transmitted to another person? Unintentionally, some patients shared their disease to other. If just in case that you found out that your TB is worse and chronic. Try to be precautious because most likely you have a greater chance of spreading it.

Remember that TB is caused by bacteria and every time you spit your saliva it combines to the air. Since we need oxygen and don't have a choice but to inhale it through the air. There are some instances that we have a tendency to inhale air with some Koch bacteria. That's why, we need a strong immune system to protect our body.

Be aware of your daily activities regardless if your infected or not. Tuberculosis is a highly contagious disease which is produced by bacteria. It is mainly known to affect the lungs because the infection begins there, however, it does move to other parts of the body, affecting bones, kidneys, intestines, liver and spleen.

Love your body specially those who have a latent tuberculosis. Try to avoid the people who sneeze in front of your face.Take a large quantities of a natural antibiotic like bee propolis and garlic. In addition of taking of vitamins A,E,C,D, and B complex, also minerals like calcium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, manganese and proteins. It is recommended to drink milk because it contains B3, B12, Folic acid and Inositol (from B complex). Try to sunbathe between 6am to 9am through sunlight you are able to acquired Vit. D which helps the body to utilize Vit. A, calcium and phosphorus. Most especially eat a lot of fresh fruits. Most of all consult your pulmonologist. Just to warn you that tuberculosis is a highly contagious and may be fatal! Don't find a way that a latent tuberculosis becomes worse.
