Fingernail and Toenail Problems

Do you have this kind of fingernails?

Dry and brittle?! I know the picture is awful but I have to display it.

Since we are in lined with this topic. I might as well discuss the health problems about fingernails.

Our nails are responsible to protect the sensitive nerve endings from harm and injury. Nutritional deficiencies produce problems in our fingernails or toenails...

  • dry and brittle nails - means lack of Vitamin A and calcium
  • weakness and cracking nails - means lack of B-complex
  • dry and dark nails - means lack of vitamin-B12 - causes them to be excessively round and curved
  • white stripes - means lack of proteins
  • spoon shaped nails with a raised tip - means lack of iron
The nutrients that we will take depend on the type of the problem of our nails. Also to soften nails and prevent them from getting curved and dry, it is recommended, especially to us ladies who use common soap for a long period of time, to apply a moisturizing cream.

Glamorous Pedicure Day!!!

The day before my birthday Yanna, June and I got together. I told June to bring her nail polish and other stuff for pedicure or manicure. We combine together our pedicure set.

After we ate our lunch, we decided to pamper our toenails. Isn't it obvious, we took a picture before and after of what we've done.

By the way, let me give you a short history of pedicure and its meaning...

It is stated in the Indian Fashion that history of pedicure goes back a long way.It was first noticed in Ancient Egypt. In India, people have been using henna since last 5000 years.Henna has proved to be the best plant for hands and feet.

Pedicure - is a noun
- pronounce as ped'i kyoor'
- come from the French word pedicure and Latin word pes curare which pes means foot and curare means to care for
- care of the feet, especially a trimming, polishing, etc. of the toenails.

A manicure or pedicure is a health and cosmetic procedure to groom, trim, and paint the nails.It is accomplished with cuticle scissors, nail scissors, nail clippers, and nail files, among various other tools. To paint the nails, nail lacquer(also known as nail polish or fingernail polish) is manually applied and allowed to dry.

There are various different types of pedicures. Some of the most common types are as follows:

- Regular Pedicure: This is a simple treatment that includes nail filing, nail polishing, and foot scrubbing. It can be done at home using various equipments.
- Paraffin Pedicure: This is a treatment that involves the use of paraffin wax. The feet are covered with layers of paraffin wax to moisturize feet.
- Stone and Salt Pedicure: This is basically a foot massage that involves the use of various different essential oils that are rubbed with the help of stone.
- French Pedicure: It is a simple pedicure that involves the use of white paint on the nail tips with a sheer pink color on the base.


Pedicurist - a person, usually a woman, whose work is giving pedicure.


Usually in the Philippines, the person whose giving a manicure and pedicure are branded as manicurist. We aren't aware that manicure is just care of the hand.

Let's go back to my story...

We tried to clean our own toenails. Personally, I have two nail lacquer; silver and black. June brought a lot of pastel color of nail polish. I tried to applied several color of nail polish but the three of us ended up with one color.

It's nice to look when your toenails are clean. You may put a nail polish or nothing at all. It is not necessary to have a colored nail as long as it is clean.

Toenails is a little part of our body but making it glamorous may help us build our self-confidence. Especially when we are used to wear slippers and sandals. Our toenails are exposed and visisble to another's eye.

Love yourself by pampering and having a pedicure.

Heal Thy


The word healthy comes from these two words heal and thy. Let's take a look at the meaning at the meriam-webster dictionary.

heal - to restore to health
- make sound or whole

thy - archaic : of or relating to thee or thyself especially as possessor or agent or as object of an action
—used especially in ecclesiastical or literary language and sometimes by Friends especially among themselves

It means being healthy we are able to cure or restore our own body. Through the use of our own anti-bodies. Those anti-bodies fight the toxins or free radicals that enters our body.

It is sad to say that now a days we have a lot of sources of toxins. Those sources may come from the food we eat and the air that we breathe. It may aggravated through our level of our stress. The higher the stress level the lesser immune system we have. It means our body can't sustain to fight to the foreign bodies or toxins that we encounter.

To have a healthy body we must take consideration several aspects such as:

P_sychological Aspect - Do we have a sound body & mind?


B_one Structure - Do we take care our spinal column? Are we on our proper posture? Whenever we sit or stand.

H_ygiene - Are we brushing our teeth before we sleep and after we slept?

E_xercise - We understand this word, aren't we?

N_utrition - Are we giving our body the proper nutrition?


T_aking responsibility!!! in our own life....

If we read the letters downwards PBHENT or it sounds like PREVENT...
I will just discuss the aspects one by one, for us to understand more of it.

Daily Health Tips

I got this text message from May... I thought of sharing this tips to my readers.

My story first before the health tips...

I remember when I was in the hospital. The nurse always asked: How many times did you urinate or poo from 2pm to 10pm? They've done actually twice a day. When I was on my third week. My Dad pretended to be a nurse and been asking me that question... LOL

I was laughing on that time. When suddenly the nurse came and asked that question again. I couldn't answer her because I was laughing. Her facial expression quite a bit angry staring at me. That time I explained to her what my father done before she came in... When I remembered it I still smile.

Anyway, we may also apply this everyday. Ask ourselves: How many times did we urinate or poo? Are we eating too much? Do we drink enough 8 glasses of water?

Here's the Daily Important Health Tips:

>Drink more water in the morning, less at night.

>Don't have huge meals after 5pm.

>Don't take pills with cold water.

>Don't lie down immediately after taking medicine.

> Answer the phone by left ear.

>When battery is down to last bar, don't answer the phone, as the radiation is 1000 times.


Its time for self-check, ask yourself will cost you nothing but a healthy lifestyle.

4 Philippines' Entry

The Philippines have four (4) entries in the New 7 Wonders of the World.


As I heard on the news the top 21 entries of the new 7 wonders of the world are qualified on the next round. Those entries will have an extended voting until 2010.
I am happy that all of nominees are officially supported.


1. Mayon Volcano- this is on the 19th spot among the nominees. A perfect cone and active volcano. It is located in Legaspi, Albay. Erupted 47 times for the past 400 years ago.


2. Tubbataha Reef - this on the 9th spot. One of the untouchables area in the country. This is found in Sulu Sea. Where most of the marine animals are protected of the Tubbataha Reef Marine National Park. Most of the endangered species are found here.





3. Chocolate Hills - this is on the 10th spot. It is located in Bohol, Philippines. There are 1,268 perfectly cone-shaped hills on the area. During dry season all of the grasses turns brown that looks the hills like chocolates...


4. Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park - this is on the 11th spot. It is located in Palawan. It is reputed as the world longest undergound river. In exploring inside the park there are a lot of major formations of stalactites and stalagmites...




Last night I visited the site and I tried to vote for our entries. I didn't know that I had an option to vote for seven entries. So I voted for Mayon Volcano, Tubbataha Reef , Chocolate Hills, Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park... I thought of the entries to add on my list.
I thought of Mount Everest (because most of the climbers like it), Jeju Islands (because of my Korean friends) and The Great Barrier Reef (because my bestfriend is there). LOL
I'm proud to say that right now the Philippines is the only country that has a lot of entries in the new 7 wonders of the world. As far as top 21 is concern all of our entries are in but we still need to work out. To make our entries belong to the top 7.

    My First Online Family "Welcomes Me"



    Yesterday, on the day of my birthday... I join Bisdak Planet. My dear Joy told me that Bisdak already welcomes me.

    I would like to thank the Bisdakplanet Family for welcoming me. Namely its Princess, Jana, Lolli, Angel, Choco, Joy, and Marites. This is just for today. I'm sorry to Genny I forgot her. She's one of the reason why I join bisdak. She welcomes me even if I'm not a member.

    For the sake of my readers... (assuming) Bisdak means is Bisayang Dako which means a person who grew up in Visayas regions. The middle part of the Philippines.

    I grew up in Calubian, Leyte a small place in front of Biliran, Leyte. My grandparents took care of us. I took there my elementary years. As I reminisce wow it's wonderful. The place is very far from the picture of Manila. Clean air and simple life. It's really wow!!! I just took my 1st year high school in Tacloban.

    Ever since I left the place I was not given a chance to visit it again. I already miss the place. I miss our friends and classmates there. My grandparents are not living there anymore. They migrated to United States 13 years ago. I also miss them. I would like to greet my grandfather a "Happy Birthday".

    I'm proud to be a Bisdak!!! Although sometimes I mix the dialects: Cebuano and Waray. Sorry but I hope you understand me.

    Bo Sanchez


    The first I encountered this name when I was doing my usual household chores way back 1999 or 2000. When I was arranging my books. I saw a green hard bound book. I tried to read it. When I started to read it, I felt a strange feeling. The feeling that I felt when I confess my sins. It goes up and down. When I looked at the author of the book it was Bo Sanchez.

    I can't remember what happen to that book but I lost it. Until Bo published THE BOSS series. Which everytime i waited for someone I always go to National Bookstore. What do I do there? Your correct! I'm reading his books but I never bought even a single one for myself.

    I bought some of THE BOSS series to give it as a gift for a friend. I even remembered I bought "Your Past Does Not Define Your Future" but I gave it as a gift for my teacher, my adviser, and my mentor Dr. Edna Galiza.

    This month Aug 2008, finally I decided to buy his book for myself. Its still a gift but for no one else just for me. It is a part of loving myself. If I stated on The Message, that sometimes I can't understand the message of God. Now I can tell you that it becomes clearer and bolder.

    The message of God explain to me through his book. The "7 Secrets to Real Freedom"
    with the subtitle
    "How to Stop Hidden Addiction and Achieve Great Success".

    I would like to thank Bo for writing inspirational and self-loving books. Thank you for being a messenger of God. I hope and pray that each of us will have a book of yours. Stay fit and young... Thank you for loving your brothers and sisters here on earth! Kudos!!!

    My Process

    Last summer my dear bestfriend encourage me to write anything in this world. She really doesn't know what I'm going through or maybe she has a hint. Well anyway without knowing, it helped me a lot. Expressing my inner thoughts, my interests and sharing my experience to others. I would like to thank my dearest Joy for loving me so much. She's one of the terrific person in my life.

    I will tell you a story...

    When I was waiting for June and Kaye. I entered to National Bookstore to look for a Manila map. I wasn't able to saw one so I roam around. I saw the books of Bo Sanchez... (Do you know him?) I was shocked because he has a new books. The books are usually sealed in the bookstore. But there is one book that has a tear off plastic. The "7 Secrets to Real Freedom". Unconciously I just open it and it turn to page 43 of the book.

    Step #1 on Loving Yourself: Forgive Yourself

    I was able to read until page 47...

    What Happens If You Don't Forgive Yourself

    After reading that page, Kaye came in so I need to stop. What I read in chapter 12 I almost have it all last summer. I would like to thank God for loving me so much...

    I'm writing all of this to encourage everyone to love yourself, forgive yourself and accept who you are...

    I would like to post this before my 30th birthday. I would like to celebrate it and enjoy my life to the fullest!!!

    A Decision

    Its been five years from now that I'm not praying the rosary. Even if my mother and grandmother remind me. Last summer, I decided to pray the rosary. The first decision I made to get out of not being positive of those time.

    As I watched television like Pinoy Meets World hosted by Miriam Quimbao. There was an episode about karma. Their guest suggests that, the person needs to look at the mirror every morning and tell; how beautiful and happy she is. I actually miss the third one. I've done that may be a week or two and suddenly stop.

    On The Messages it was stated that God Loves Me... (also YOU!) Again I was able to watched "Oprah" they're topic is about inner peace. The core of the human being. One of the guest there suggest that, each day you need to talk to yourself and tell how you love it. It's like planting a seed of love inside you and need to watered it everyday.

    The Messages

    I always tell my friends that God loves me. He will never astray me as I am His daughter.

    I don't know when it started and how. But God is sending a message to me in different ways. God has given me a gift but sometimes I don't know how to use it. I'll just figure it out when I saw the whole picture.

    My Hidden Downfall

    It started 2 years ago when I didn't met the standards of one of my bestfriend. I feel debastated inside. We've been friends for 12 years at that time and I couldn't accept that she's gone in my life.

    I hate myself at that time without admitting it.
    I feel shame that before she praise me so much to her friends. Suddenly turn me as a damn and crash me six feet below the ground.
    I had regrets of loving this person.
    I'm afraid that I couldn't have another friend.(But I was totally wrong)
    I'm always angry to anything...

    Those are my hidden downfalls: hate, shame, regrets, anger and scare of something. I didn't notice that its draining my soul. I almost die last year, the whole story was written in Battle of my Life. I thought it was normal but I'm leading to self destruction. I even remember when I was in the hospital. The days when I was recovering my surgery. I texted her to say sorry but I didn't got a single reply. (It became a big sorry for myself)

    From then on each day I always holding on my regrets. Still recalling my past feeling guilty of everything and keep blaming myself. As I'm writing this, I can't help myself not to cry (just to overcome more of this I need to publish it)

    As I was keeping this hidden downfalls of mine. It became a full depression last summer. I just stay on my room. I don't like to talk or meet other people. I keep on sleeping all day long. I'm watching TV from morning 'till night.

    Being negative at that time fills more negative, some negative and a little negative on my life.

    But to all of these situations there are ANGELS that was sent by God. The one who truly loves each human being.
