One Step Ahead

My new domain is running for almost 1 1/2 months.

Joy break the news for me.

Surprisingly, yesterday she noticed that I am already PR1. Thank you dear. I'm so happy and grateful that my blog is one step ahead...

We know waiting is so hard for all of us. Be patient and have the passion of what we are doing. For all we know the fruits of our work is waiting for us to pick it.

This is the time to say "thank you" to all of my visitors, commentators, droppers, new found friends online and my friends who support me (you know who you are). I appreciate it a lot.

Dropping EC

I have concerns in dropping my EC.

Internet connections are not that good here in the Phil. (when it becomes good? hehehe) It becomes not that good because of the typhoon Ofel.

What is the big deal in dropping ec?

A lot! Every time I open the my regular drops and new drops in my inbox. The message would be:

  • !problem loading page
  • I open the page and it doesn't have a widget of ec...
What do I usually do in my regular drops?

Since I know my regular drops that they have a widget. What I do first I refresh it, second I cancel their page and finally open it again. So cool, right? I want to stay positive as I can.

Wake-up DepEd!

I have below the news about the Department of Education (DepEd) wasted budget last year. They have the guts to increase it this year by 13%. All I can say to the officials who are responsible in wasting the budget.....

"The end does not justify the means"

I guess you studied Philosophy during your college days. Even if you like your families to live and enjoy grandious lifestyle. Stealing the budget is not the answer. It may not be literally written on the news that the budget is stolen. The way I look at it... aahhmm... somebody earns and enjoys it.

Here's the news...

DepEd wastes millions in bungled projects--House group

Unused books, defective computers cited

MANILA, Philippines -- The Department of Education has wasted millions of pesos in government funds by mishandling several projects, according to the Congressional Planning and Budget Department of the House of Representatives.

In a document dated September 2008 and released to media Wednesday, among the projects mentioned were the:

• Purchase of P667.95 million worth of multimedia equipment that were found to be defective, not appropriate for the schools where these were distributed, and were thus were not maximized for classroom instruction in 13 regions.

This was also cited in a separate Commission on Audit document, which noted that computers and CDs were distributed to schools that neither had electricity nor computer laboratories or where teachers had limited knowledge in operating computers.

• Purchase of P57.3 million worth of textbooks and manuals that had gathered dust in school stockrooms and libraries;
• Purchase of P67.2 million worth of supplementary and reference materials that were bought by the DepEd division offices in Regions 6, 7, and 13 despite a moratorium on their expenses;
• Construction of classrooms in 1,329 schools that “"have the least need” for them
• Purchase of 84,254 sets of tables and chairs and 15,748 armchairs that cost P197 million but which were given to “2,777 elementary and 899 secondary schools identified as having adequate seat provisions for SY 2004-2007"; and
• Receipt of over P30 million worth of defective school tables, chairs, and armchairs in which officials had "failed to conduct proper inspection of these deliveries before acceptance."

Despite all these, the DepEd has asked for a P1.67-billion budget for 2009, a 13 percent increase from this year's allocation, it said. DepEd presented its budget lasr September 11 at the House.

Basic education performance has also remained low because less than 80 percent of the total number of students has made it to Grade 5, "a survival rate of that is worse than in Indonesia and Vietnam," it said.

Bitter Pill

"We are our brothers' keepers"

In our contemporary society today there are two kinds of people;

a. the one doesn't care about what others do

b. the one intrudes into the private lives of individuals in order to discover and expose hidden mistakes or weaknesses

Honestly, I'm guilty on letter "a". For the reason that I don't like to be invaded by other people. I will just care to those that I really love like; family, relatives, and friends.

On the other hand, speaking of letter "b" I encounter that kind of people and it is really annoying. Huh!!! Intrudes private lives...

If someone is sick we gave them medicine. Same thing with the person needs a fraternal correction we gave them bitter pills.

As God constant love to us. He does send us "reminders". He sends us His messages not only through our conscience, but also through people. These are His messengers, His disturbing "prophets", the ones who give us the bitter pills!

Sometimes it is difficult to receive fraternal correction with grateful humility. It ends up a friend turn into an enemy because of a "sister correction". It's okay we have done our prophetic act towards our neighbor.

Always remember we are our brother's keepers, for we are all members of the same family.

Grateful Prayer

Help me, Lord, overcome the envy
that makes me sad
over my neighbor's success or good fortune.
Remove from me this web of bitterness
that poisons my heart and mind
and leads me to complain about the blessings
you have granted to those I should consider
my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Set me free from the moral blindness
of envy and arrogance that lead me
to question your wisdom and freedom
in the distribution of your gifts or rewards.
Remind me that in every case, you know best.

Teach me to rejoice wholeheartedly
with those who rejoice
because of your blessings,
for this is what real Christian love
and solidarity means.
Teach me to count my blessings -
the numberless blessings you have showered
and still shower on me, day after day,
minute after minute.
Teach me to rejoice in them
with a grateful heart
as Mary and all the saints did,
knowing that all the goods things in life
are gifts that come from you.
Teach me to use these gifts well,
the very best way I can,
with wisdom and creativity,
for that will be my clearest thanks to you,
the source of all my my blessings,
the source of all my joy.

My Cousin's Tears

I was lost in track for the past few days.

We we're planning the debut of my cousin Nica. It was held last Friday September 19, 2008. We planned it to be as formal as possible but it didn't work out. Hahaha

Her birthday is not really that day it was last Sept. 6, because of on going classes she was not able to celebrate it. A day before the celebration her classmates sent her some messages that they are not coming. Oh poor Nica she's crying all night without telling us the real reason. Her mother that time drop and leave all the groceries on the stores. Tsk tsk tsk...

If we are invited on a party please be sure that we are going to attend. If we only knew the planning, preparation and expenses behind it. Well, since the guest doesn't knew about it until such a time that they throw a party.

We ended up on celebrating it on a very casual manner. I hope her guest enjoyed the place and the food that we prepare. Speaking of the place I will post it next time.

Its Famealy Day Today!!!

Today in the Philippines it is a "Famealy Day" where every family members must be in one table.

Sharing a meal to each of the family members bring a lot of fun and enjoyment. Talking with them and sharing stories with another.

Children grow so fast that parents sometimes didn't notice it. They still treat them as their babies. Should I say parents grow up... your children are already adults. Hahaha

8 Things About Me

I get this from Bill... thank you so much. When I'm doing this, that is the only time that I read about you. Sorry but I just copy & paste it.

Simple rules:
1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
2. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
3. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

1) Eldest among three siblings. The only daughter of my parents.

2) A loyal and loving friend. Usually used to one or group of three friends. That's why I have a lot of best friends. I deal with them in their on time. I enjoy being with my friends, sometimes I don't even think of a man in my life.

3) I'm still dreaming to become a chef. One of my passion is cooking. To cook nutritious food!!!

4) I'm not a wide reader but the books that catch my interest are; self-loving, inspirational, food and health.

5) I'm in line with the education industry so it means I'm a teacher. (I'm totally embracing this career)

6) I like to have a business... anything that I could sell (that was before). Now I've learned my lesson, I need to choose what to sell and when to sell it. hahaha

7) I love to travel anywhere... and enjoy life to fullest.

8) When I don't speak I have a snobbish look. You need to break the ice or the wall between us. Hehehe

I'm passing this to... Ms Elle, Kittykat, Yen, Babette, Summer, Aroone, Nicole, & Garf

Psychological Aspect

"What the mind perceive the body can achieve"

Why are we discussing this?

Remember Heal Thy? One of the factor to have a healthy body we need to consider psychological aspect.

Let's take a look the literal meaning of the word...

psychological - an adjective
- affecting or intended to affect the mind

aspect - a noun
- the appearance or interpretation of an idea, problem, situation, etc. as considered from a specific viewpoint

My interpretation...

Psychological aspect is an attitude affects our internal peace or our behavior in facing our daily situation.

My question...

Are you optimistic or pessimistic?

The answer is very important.

Our perspective in life matters a lot. If we think we are great then we are great. Our minds are like magnets! If we are optimistic it attracts all the positive things in this world.

To tell you honestly, being negative is very natural. In fact, we are born to be negative. That is why we need to make an effort to be positive. We need to do something to make our life be beautiful, fantastic, brilliant and excellent. Let's allow positivity to stay and room in our life...

In the way we think it affects our emotion. Our emotions play a vital role in our body... it affects our health, mood, etc.

10 Lousy Filipino Pick-up Lines

Are you using these lines to those you’ve ever met in your life? These may be cheesy and corny but sometimes it works… Hahaha

10. Do you have a bandage?

because I scrape my knee falling for you.

9. Are you religious?

‘coz you’re the answer to my prayers…

8. Can you touch me?

So I can tell my friends that I have touched by an angel…

7. Was your father a thief?

because someone stole a star in the sky and put in your eyes.

6. I have three months to live…

5. Pardon me, are you in heat?

4. Where have you been all my life?

3. Excuse me… Is your Dad a terrorist?

Because you’re the bomb.

2. I guess your legs must be tired.

Because you’re running through my mind all night…

1. You know if I can rearrange the alphabet I would put U and I together.

If you have not use these lines yet. Please don’t try it now because it has been aired on TV and now me already written it here. Sorry… its time to change your lines.

This ranking is based on the TV program “ang pinaka” in channel 11 here in the Phil.

“Ang Pinaka” by Rovilson Fernandez

We attend 5-6pm Sunday mass after that we watch the shows from different channels. This is one of the shows that we usually watch. The title of the show is “ang pinaka” or “the most” in English language. Before it was hosted by Pia Guanio, currently Rovilson Fernandez is hosting the show.

He’s funny, witty and quiet handsome. He tries his best to enunciate Filipino language but he still needs more practice. Sorry Rov… I know you can do it! In due time you will master to speak our own language.

Through the research of there show I learned so much. Now, I’m not just listening but I’m taking down notes. Before I don’t know how they rank it but now I realize that it depends on each topic. One thing for sure the staff are doing their job.

For me, I give them 5 earths since it is found on my banner. They have a fabulous show! I hope they will continue to give us interesting and cool ranking of topics. Keep it up… Kudos to the host and all the staff of “ang pinaka”.

A Prayer of Forgiveness

Lord Jesus, how difficult for me
to treat with forgiving love
those who have offended me!
Vengeful rages in my heart,
and in my thirst for getting even, I dare call "justice"
what is only bitter revenge.

But you tell me:
"Relent! Forgive!
Correct your erring brother or sister
with patient love.
Remember my command that you treat others
the way you would like to be treated."

Lord, I know you are right.
But you know how hard it is for me
to do as you say.
Help me do just that.
Help me to consider not the hurts I suffered,
but the hurt they will suffer in the jail of hell
if they do not stop hurting their neighbor.
Help me be not an instrument of your punishment,
but a channel of your mercy,
a prophet who leads offenders to conversion.

Let my forgiveness of my offenders
be sincere and clad with gentleness-
so sincere that I may wish and work for their repentance,
so that they and I may be together in heaven
like the best of friends.

Sharon & Miel Sing Together

Lately, my heart and mind are going to explode every time I saw this on the television. I don't care if you don't like the celebrities. I'm going to stand on what I like. (hahaha)

I like this new commercial of Sharon Cuneta and her youngest daughter Miel. Especially when I heard they're sing together. It relaxes my body, it soothes my spirit as daughter, and imagine myself when I become a Mom. I hope my Mom sings me with that kind of song...

I forgot to mention Frankie... she's also there. The second daughter of Sharon Cuneta.

Foods, Benefits, and Questions about Vit. A

"Eat carrots so that you can see at night"
That is usually our mother told us every time she prepares a carrot on our dinner table. I prepared some questions to be able to understand more about Beta-Carotene better known as Vitamin A...

What is Beta-Carotene?

Beta-Carotene is a Pro-Vitamin which is converted into Vitamin A in our bodies as needed.

Where are the process of conversion of Beta-Carotene in our body?

This process of convertion occurs in the liver and the intestinal wall.

How would we know if we are lacking of Beta-Carotene?

Disorders due to lack of Beta-Carotene manifest in some part of our body...

  • it is produced more frequently in the skin, whether causing dryness in the mucuos membranes of the nose, lungs, and mouth, or stimulating the production of acne.
  • sometime if we have trouble seeing with very little light or whose eyes are sensitive to bright light.
Does Vitamin A helps to prevent night blindness?

Yes, it does... It is important for the production of visual purple which we need to be able to see better on the dark.

How does Vit A helps to process our protein intake?

The protein intake cannot be processed unless there is enough level of Vitamin A in our body.

What are the compounds that destroys Vitamin A in our body?

The nitrogenous compounds destroy Vitamin A in our body.

This is the most interesting part... Let's find out the food that we eat which contains nitrites. These are the foods that are maybe your favorites, delicious for you, and maybe your comfort food.

What are the foods that contain nitrogenous compounds?

  • Preservative foods - This is not knew to us, right?
  • Food Coloring - Take a look at the ingredients if there is a traces of food coloring.
  • Foods that are fed to livestock - That is why livestock are delicious. (no wonder?!)
There are benefits if we have enough level of Vitamin A in our body...

  • Neutralizes the action of free radicals in our bodies.
-it protects our bodies against smog and a large number of illnesses
-it acts like a molecular oxidizing agent which helps to protect our cells
  • Keeps our liver and reproductive organs healthy.
  • Helps our bones, teeth, hair and skin.
- helps us to prevent problems caused by excessive pollution
- it also helps to slow the production if we have ulcers & prevent if we have a have a formation of cancerous tumors
  • Promotes growth and vitality.
  • Helps our body to destroy infections.
  • It's important for our vision and night blindness.
  • Very important in pregnant mother and for their lactation.
Beta-Carotene found on the following foods that usually we ate or maybe not... LOL

  • Green and yellow fruits and vegetables
  • dried apricots
  • papaya
  • peaches
  • spinach
  • asparagus
  • alfalfa
  • broccoli

  • garlic
  • raw carrots
  • fish
  • cod-liver oil
Now we know if we are lacking of Vitamin A. I think I'll pay attention to this vitamin. Eat a lot of food stated above. I'm trying to eliminate red meat, preservative foods, and food that has a food coloring ingredient on my diet.

To my reader it's your decision if pay attention to this vitamin anyway we are the only knows what we are lacking.

By the way most of the researches about health comes from the "Guide to Natural Remedies for Health and Well-Being by Enrique Garza.
